The White Power Ranger, Puerto Rico & Other Exciting Life Things

So I’m definitely pretty behind on life updates. For the first time in my life, I have a good amount of savings and have been able to take the month of August off (with a little babysitting here and there, just because I love those kiddos) to relax a little. Relaxing for me means constantly doing lots of things that I enjoy a bunch. I’ll have to make a blog soon to play catch-up on this last, fun-filled month….but for now, I thought I’d share just a few of the exciting things going on this past and present week.

1. I’M GOING TO PUERTO RICO TOMORROW! A close friend and I were recently having a girl’s night together at my house when we realized that we both had days off in the same week. We decided right then and there to buy plane tickets together. I’ve heard it’s a rather beautiful place and am eagerly anticipating reaping the rewards of a delightfully spontaneous purchase. fburg

2. Husband and I spent this last weekend enjoying a little, romantic getaway in the quaint town of Fredericksburg, Texas. We have fun together, him and I.

3.  I went to my very first voice and movement class on Wednesday! Acting has been a closet passion of mine for quite some time. Filming a couple of commercials this summer has taken this love of mine out of hiding and reawakened a desire I had almost forgotten existed. Also, I got cookies and flavored coffee at said class. Awakening passions and free treats—A good combo.

My latest event blogging adventure was indoor skydiving with iFLY Austin. Oh my goodness, I had an absolute blast. Really too, because the enormous fans are so powerful that they sent me blasting up through the air tunnel. Each person gets two 2 minute turns, and on the second turn the instructor took hold of my suit handles and flew me, spinning all the way to the top. My breath was taken away in the best way possible. It was just a thrillingly unique experience that I know I’ll never forget. (But if I fell on my head and forgot my whole life or something, I have a DVD and pictures to help me remember.) I can’t thank iFLY enough for their generosity, great staff and for giving me the chance to fly.

As if flying in a wind tunnel wasn’t great enough, I also met my very first crush at iFLY yesterday. Remember Tommy from the Power Rangers? The Red Ranger who later became the White Ranger and was in love with Kimberly, the Pink Ranger? Yeah, apparently he’s a regular at iFLY. ( Jason David Frank is his real name, if you’re curious.) I almost had a happy heart-attack getting a picture with him. Before the photo was snapped, I informed him, in the tone of a little schoolgirl, “I used to be obsessed….” and then awkwardly trailed off because I didn’t want to end the sentence with, “With you when I was five because you were the White Power Ranger.” But really, y’all. I met my kindergarten crush before indoor skydiving for the first time yesterday. Life is pretty perfect.

Type to y’all after Puerto Rico! Happy squeal goes here.

      • PhilIt seems that the majority of the cuts will be aceihved during the next year rather than spreading the cuts more evenly over the next three years. Why is this? Do we really want to see so many staff hit in just one year? As it is the Jobseeker claimants in just part of Ealing have increased in the last year by some 50% up to some 4000 I was told. How does invest to save actually work? For instance there are massive figures totalling a35791K against Adults services. Do I think this is something to do with Adult service charges going up? Which particular services will go and by how much will our charities be hammered? How many of the dumber Councillors will understand these sheets? How many will like lambs just follow the whip?If you have a budget for a3100 pounds and then you propose cuts of say 20% what you do in presentational terms is that you show the existing budget, you then show the projected cut, you then show the revised budget figure, you then show how much the cut is in percentage terms. How is it that the brighter Councillors accept such poor presentational documentation from such a senior Finance Officers? Is this yet another failure in their department to demonstrate communication skills? Or does the a31133K against Finance and Audit represent a reduction of some over paid senior executives. Budget preparation is really such a menial task and does not need too many highly paid people to do such a job, even though it is complex (but not complicated) undertaking. There is a saving for the Housing general fund of a3388K. What does that mean? Safer Communities has a reduction of a3790K it seems. What risk assessment has been undertaken when the Commander is witnessing overall higher crime figures? Will there be a public consultation regarding the disgraceful Park ranger apparent cuts? The cynic in me queries whether some of these services will not go, but will end up being contacted out. Any comments please.Do you think any services will be taken in house? If we are saving a350M how much does that equate in pence per pound to the amount by which I would like to see my Council tax reduced. Why won’t we get a reduction? Shall we perchance also see a reduction in the long term borrowing of the Council which some bloke whose name I have forgotten around here, might have reduced with that a36M?I hope you will be able to answer these questions (and no doubt in your inimitable fashion correct me where I have not understood) plus others which you say you will be considering. If partiality can be moderated that would be good even if faintly difficult. However I am glad that one of our Councillors is motivated to keep residents informed. Pity those of a different leaning are so pathetically weak that they cannot in some way do what you get up to. Bassam is the only one who just rarely pops up over the parapet. There seem to be a rising tide of complaints that Council Officers run rings around Councillors. Perhaps some of the main directors should publish on the website a rolling 4 page sheet telling us what they want to do.BTW apologies for a longer post, but generally you will agree that I have followed your advice.

  3. Rach @ This Italian Family says:

YOU MET WHITE RANGER?! So cool!! And The iFly thing looks like my kind of sky diving! Much less risk than actually jumping out of a plane, but still awesome thrill. I think I could handle that, haha!
